TRUST

The Foundation

Trust is a lifelong journey.

Believing and trusting are interwoven. Each depends on the other. Ultimately they need to be one, yet so often we believe something to be true, but doubt that we will see it play out in our own lives.

We believe, but we can’t trust.

We tend to have pockets in our lives where trust is relatively easy, and other areas of our lives where trust has been broken so severely that it is hard to trust again.

Learning to trust in a world that is untrustworthy is a monumental task.

Trust is an emotion. We cannot will ourselves to trust. We can only choose to risk one more time. We choose to embrace a difficult, potentially painful path, knowing that whether or not things work out as we hope, the end result is a jewel of inestimable worth.

This is true for trusting one another.

And it is true for our walk with God. Without trust, there is no real belief.

Our faith journey is all about walking into deeper and more profound levels of trusting God, where we are willing to risk our time, our energy, our finances, our reputations, our lives—everything that we have—to follow the Lord of Life sacrificially and without hesitation.

There once was a father who brought his son to Jesus to be healed, saying, “If You are able to do anything, help us!”

Jesus answered, “‘If You are able’? All things are possible to the one who believes.”

Immediately the father cried out, “I do believe; help my unbelief!”

And Jesus healed the boy.
