Awakening Infinity
Reaching for Indefinable Light
To the only wise God our Saviour be glory and majesty, dominion and power both now and forever. Amen.
(Jude 1:25)
In many ways it is commonplace. Morning by morning we awake to the light of the day. Light becomes part of our accepted existence here on earth.
Yet scientists continue to puzzle over the mysteries of light. It is a wave, yet it also acts as a particle. A particle has mass, and light has none. What is light?
“God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5).
The light of God transcends physical light. Physical light comes from His light, but His light is far greater, far more majestic, far beyond what our minds can comprehend.
Yet, like the scientists, we reach for a deeper understanding of the light which is invisible to our human eyes. We reach for more than physical light; we long for the light that is present in the Everlasting God.
We know deep in our spirits that “in Your light we see light” (Psalm 36:9).
Light is a mysterious thing.
And so we reach for that light which is a mystery, which is beyond our finite minds to completely grasp. We reach for the light of His countenance, for the light that illumines our paths, for the light of His wisdom and understanding.
It is a light that is indefinable—impossible to be accurately defined or precisely described.
It is a light that is beautiful in its expression, magnificent and majestic in its glory.
And in His light is life.
